Chamber Workshop:
RETIREMENT PLANNING FOR THE SMALL BUSINESS OWNER Presented By - Chip Lape State Farm
Wednesday, May 14, 2014 Noon to 1:00 pm Chamber Members Free, Guests $10 Lunch: Being Provided by Chip Lape State Farm
Join Jon Toper from State Farm. This workshop will include an overview of the importance of retirement planning for the small business owner, since it is often an integral part of a successful business succession plan. We will take a look at the different retirement plans available to the small business owner and discuss why these newer plans are often used to acquire and keep talented employees. And because business planning for retirement is only one of the numerous risks that need to be addressed by the business owner, we will briefly discuss how it fits into the total, financial services risk management plan.
FMI: Contact the Chamber at 207-363-4422 or email: [email protected] or register online here. Members must use login and password to register.

We can also update you on medical marijuana and e-cigarette information, if you are interested in adding that to your policy. NEW Advertising Opportunity in Chamber Restrooms
|
One of our members recently brought to our attention that we are missing out on a prime advertising location. We estimate that 90,000+ visitors stop by the Chamber of Commerce annually. The majority of these visitors take advantage of our public restrooms; we are often their first stop when coming off of Interstate 95.
Take advantage of a captive audience! Advertise your business, special events or activities on a poster. We'll put your 11x17 poster inside an acrylic poster case located in the restroom, on the stall doors in the ladies room and on the walls in the men's room.
|
We felt like a visual would be helpful!
|
You supply the poster before the start of the season and it can be changed out as often as you want during that season. Both seasons last for six months and your poster will remain up during that time. Cost for one poster during the on-season (May - October) is $125 / cost for off-season (November - April) is $75.
For more information, please contact Steph or Holly. Space is VERY limited and will be filled first come, first served. The poster advertising cannot be shared with other businesses. Download the sign-up form here.

Making Maine Work Survey: The Workforce Development Series
|
In July 2010, the Maine State Chamber of Commerce and the Maine Development Foundation released Making Maine Work: Critical Investments for the Maine Economy, a comprehensive action plan for improving productivity, growing the economy, and providing a higher quality of life for all Maine people. The original report and recommendations explored the investments needed to grow the economy and the factors that influence those decisions. Subsequent editions in the series have provided in-depth looks at various issues that affect Maine's economy: "The Role of Maine's Public University System," released in December 2010; "Investment in Young Children = Real Economic Development," released in January 2012; and, "Growing Maine's Workforce," released in November 2013.
