Vital Resources for All City Officials
Do you think your HR staff is all you need?  Think again.  All city officials should have a basic understanding of human resource policies and procedures. The Human Resources for Public Officials Workshop, November 5-6, provides essential information on HR related issues.  Learn about diversity, harassment, hiring, termination, open government, gender issues, and fair labor standards.

Attend in person or by webcast.

December 4 Newly Elected City Officials' Workshop
TML has a one-day workshop for newly elected city officials that will answer your questions, and help you address the issues you will face in office.  You'll learn about the fundamentals of city regulation, parliamentary procedure, open meetings, ethics, and more. This workshop is also a great refresher for veteran city officials. Join us December 4 in Austin for this valuable learning experience.

Small Cities' Problem-Solving Clinic in Cuero
Small cities, we have a training workshop that is just your size-a TML Small Cities' Problem-Solving Clinic. The clinic covers the basics (key legal requirements, legislative updates, and a review of TML services), and offers ample time to discuss the issues important to your city during the legal question-and-answer session and roundtable discussion. For just $40 per registrant, the clinic delivers a high educational impact at a low cost. The next clinic will take place December 11 in Cuero.

Reserve your spot at the December 11 clinic at TML Small Cities' Problem-Solving Clinic.

Empowering Today's Youth
For almost 15 years, TML has partnered with a city in Texas to host a two-day, statewide Youth Advisory Commission (YAC) Summit.  The summit is an opportunity for cities, schools, and local youth groups to share the experiences of their programs, and the positive impact they have on their community. It provides a fun environment for youth and city leaders to learn from and work with each other. Adults and students leave with a greater appreciation of their own programs, and new ideas to inspire their enthusiasm and success.

The City of Pearland is hosting the 2016 YAC Summit on February 20-21, 2016. The summit's theme--Olympiad: Training for a Stronger Future--aims to inspire future leaders to dream big and think outside of the box through life lessons, practical advice, team-building exercises, and of course, laughter!

Registration is open at 2016 YAC Summit.

Help TML Launch Its Instagram Account
Instagram is a free social networking app, available through the Apple App Store, Google Play, and Windows Phone Store.  It is designed for sharing photos and videos.  The TML Instagram account will launch in early December, and will revolve around community. We are looking for photos taken by you that showcase the programs or services that your city provides, your city's unique characteristics, or city-hosted community events and celebrations.

We'll feature these photos on Instagram and highlight the best each month in Texas Town & City magazine.

Send your photos with a brief photo description to Jennifer Stamps at [email protected].  Please include "Instagram" with your city's name in the subject line, and be sure to tell us the Instagram handle you'd like tagged if there is one you'd like us to use.

Infrastructure Makes a City Livable
Towns and cities invest significant resources on infrastructure to make our Texas communities livable.  Infrastructure services like water, energy, roads and bridges, transportation, and waste management are necessities and comforts for residents and businesses.

In the January 2016 issue of Texas Town & City, we'll highlight local infrastructure projects that are future-focused, supporting growth and safeguarding natural resources.  If your town or city has an infrastructure story to tell, please email the TML Communications Department by November 10 with your story idea.
