Prepare Your City's Newly Elected Officials for Success Encourage your city's newly elected officials to attend the Newly Elected City Officials' Orientation, hosted by the Texas Municipal League (TML) and the Association of Mayors, Councilmembers and Commissioners (AMCC). This training program will answer your newly elected officials' questions and help them effectively address the issues they'll face as a new mayor or city councilmember. Join us July 24-25 in San Antonio or August 13-14 in Round Rock for this valuable learning experience.

TML Workshop Tuition Scholarships for Small Cities The TML Workshop Tuition Scholarship Program, which was established by the Small Cities Advisory Council, helps city officials in small cities (less than 15,000 in population) attend TML training events. Each scholarship recipient receives a complimentary registration and a reimbursement for travel-related expenses of up to $100.
Scholarship winners are randomly selected and notified one month in advance of the training. For full program rules and to apply, visit the Small Cities' Scholarships page on the TML website.
Supreme Court Update on Police Cases The International Municipal Lawyers Association and the State and Local Legal Center are offering a free webinar on July 29 (noon-1:15 p.m. Central) on this term's Supreme Court police cases. The Supreme Court's police cases docket this term includes a hotel registry ordinance case and a pretrial detainee excessive force case along with a number of Fourth Amendment traffic stop cases and qualified immunity cases. Discuss the implications of these decisions for state and local government and police officers. Continuing Legal Education (CLE) is not offered for this webinar.
