It's time to apply for a 2014 Governor's Community Achievement Award For more than two decades, Keep Texas Beautiful, in partnership with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), has awarded the prestigious Governor's Community Achievement Awards (GCAA) to ten Texas communities with the best grassroots environmental programs in the state. The competition distributes $2 million annually in funding, and recognizes communities that are working diligently to create and sustain comprehensive environmental and beautification programs. Applications are now available. The deadline to apply is Tuesday, February 4, 2014 by 5:00 pm. Visit the Keep Texas Beautiful website to learn more and apply.
Submit an application for a 2014 Traffic Safety Award The National Safety Council's Our Driving Concern: Texas Employer Traffic Safety Program will honor Texas employers though a new awards recognition program. Traffic safety awards will be presented to Texas cities and businesses that encourage positive driver behaviors among employees on and off the job. The Our Driving Concern Program, funded through a Texas Department of Transportation traffic safety grant, helps employers implement well-developed policies and comprehensive workplace programs that can reduce traffic crashes.
Any Texas business or city can submit an application by the February 28 deadline. An online application can be found on the National Safety Council website.
