New London In The News

Safe Harbor

New London received a little national press this past week. Drink Magazine gave a rating of 94 points to New London's very own American Blonde Ale. The official beer of the Whaling City has made amazing strides in the almost five years that it has been on the shelves.  Congratulations!

Their most exciting addition will arrive on shelves everywhere on June 1st. The 1790 Lager is being brewed as a tribute to the United States Coast Guard. The name comes from the founding year of the USCG. And their motto: "Always Ready" appears in Latin on the label too. And one dollar for every six pack sold will go to the National Coast Guard Museum Fund.

Lets all raise our glass to New London & the USCG.
Ask for it everywhere and include a six pack along with your other favorite beverages.

Robert Sinsky:
"Almost twenty five years ago, I watched one of my favorite wine styles, rosé, get molested on the altar of commerce. I was afraid if we didn't do something soon, it would forever be tarnished with a bad reputation. The culprit was sugar-laced White Zinfandel. It ruled the shelves and created moguls out of farmers. The problem was not that it just pushed rosé out of the mindshare of "real" wine drinkers, it was tarnishing rosé's image as the ultimate food wine.

Two decades later, some people still can't shake the image that all rosé is sickly sweet, but one by one, the "cool" kids flaunted the status-quo with their pink cred, accepting dry rosé like never before. Pink is finally ready for its close up and, unlike the early days, it is our fastest selling wine. It only goes to show that if you do something you believe in, you will find kindred souls who like to break bread and share a pink-induced smile.

Dedicating your top Pinot Noir vineyards to rosé is a fool's folly. I guess we're fools - but the only way to make great rosé is to start with great grapes from great vineyards. RSV's Vin Gris of Pinot Noir is made from several blocks of RSV's CCOF certified organic vineyards in the Carneros... grapes are never purchased for this wine... ever!

The grapes are night harvested by hand, whole cluster pressed at dawn, and cool fermented with no wood contact for a pure, vibrant, living wine.

A captivating jewel-like glint of pale pink attracts the eye. Taking a sip is like biting into a crisp, ripe nectarine with citrus, pear, and slate. The wine is delicious with youthful vivaciousness, but will only become more enticing as it develops a savory quality. Take with food."

Moonstruck Chocolates:

"In 1993, a simple but remarkable concept took root in Portland, Oregon. That concept was to handcraft superior chocolates - chocolates that would not only taste exquisite, but that would look exceptional, as well. The result would be a chocolate indulgence for all the senses.

From that initial idea grew Moonstruck Chocolatier, where to this day we still handcraft each piece, using only the finest ingredients. We pair our own decadent chocolate with fresh flavors found in the Pacific Northwest and beyond, and then hand-decorate each piece with intricate care.

It all makes for a chocolate experience without compare, and we invite you to share in that experience yourself.

It is our sincere hope that you enjoy savoring each Moonstruck Chocolatier delicacy as much as we enjoyed creating it."
