TRG SHADOW

This Friday Night - MEET David Root and try the wines from Gathering Harvest.

PRISMA
This hand-harvested, 100% Pinot Noir is blend of three clones produced from a single vineyard located in the Casablanca Valley. The granite soils and cool, coastal climate produce a fresh, vibrant and aromatic wine. It shows bright red fruit notes of strawberry and cherry, with an underlying hint of oak, that leads to a lifted mid-palate and smooth, velvety finish.

ROQUESAN

With 60% of their vineyards over 100 years old, Roquesán may be one of the best values in the store. This 100% Tempranillo is grown in sandy and alluvial stone soil at 2,788 feet. The free run juice ferments in cement tanks with 10 days of maceration. The wine then ages for 6 months before spending another 10 month in bottle before release.

This is balanced, fruit forward tempernillo without the weight of excess oak that plagues this region. Dark fruit, firm tannins, nicely balanced by just enough acidity to make you want to refill your glass. Great with: Steak, winter vegetable dishes, & Manchego cheese.

And Two More Surprise Selections.

As always - there will be cheese, there will be wine, there will be extras

Lets have a little fun on Friday night.

NEW ARRIVALS

The elusive Génépy (Génépi) from Dolin is a type of liqueur that has long been sought-after, but only recently become available in the US. Its character is derived from the various alpine shrubs of the genus Artemisia.

More commonly known as wormwood, Genepi is an iconic alpine botanical associated with the kingdom of Savoy and the regions in France, Switzerland, and Italy that once made up that kingdom. It's been used for centuries to flavor liqueurs, digestifs and various tonics.

The flavor profile falls somewhere in between modern absinthe and chartreuse. While exhibiting significant sweetness, its strong herbal quality keeps it nicely balanced. It makes for an excellent digestif and is a key ingredient in several classic cocktails.

ALOHA - Say Goodbye To Winter
Handcrafted on the beautiful island of Maui, Ocean Vodka is the only spirit in the world made with deep ocean mineral water. The high mineral content of our water imparts a unique character to our vodka and adds great depth of flavor to the traditional vodka cocktail.

"Ocean Vodka is a family effort and a true labor of love. Three generations of our family, The Smiths, have grown up on the beautiful island of Maui, where the Pacific Ocean is our playground and sanctuary. Our family embodies a deep love and respect for the ocean and the natural beauty of our home. This appreciation and the drive to be more eco-conscious, to strive for sustainability, ultimately led to the creation of Ocean Vodka in 2005.

Our water is sourced from 3,000 feet below the Kona Coast of the Big Island of Hawaii, where it is ice-cold, deeply pure, and full of naturally occurring minerals. Once our water is brought to the surface on the Kona coast, it is organically purified and desalinated through a proprietary, natural filtration process that removes sodium while retaining rich minerals such as potassium, calcium and magnesium.

Stranahan's Colorado Whiskey is Colorado's first legal distillery since the Kessler distillery which operated in the 1800's. The legend of how Stranahan's came about is told in Colorado like a fairy tale that whiskey geeks tell their kids to put them to bed. The whiskey is so unique that it has become known as "Colorado Whiskey," rather than just "a Colorado whiskey".

Stranahan's comes in a sleek, heavy glass bottle with an offset yellow label going across the middle. On top of the bottle is a tin cup topper that covers the cork. The tin has a faint 1 ounce mark and 1 1/2 ounce mark inside that makes it come in handy around the house.

Another really cool characteristic of Stranahan's is that each bottle of Stranahan's has a note on the side from the person bottling it. It usually says what song they are listening to at that exact moment, what book they are reading, or their favorite quote. My latest bottle says, "Listening to Christmas Carols."

Maurin Quina Liqueur was created in 1906 by Auguste Maurin in Le Puy en Velay, and quickly gained fame with the help of Leonetto Cappiello, the Italian-born artist who created the infamous green devil on the label.

Smooth and delicate, this noted liqueur is created by macerating wild cherries, quinine and bitter almonds in fortified white wine, and then blending it with cherry brandy, lemon juice and cherry juice. You have got to try this on Friday.

Enjoy chilled as an aperitif or paired with fresh fruit.
