This has been one of the best Rosé seasons that we can remember. So many excellent bottles to choose from that it is impossible to pick a favorite. But the season is coming to a close. So enjoy them while they last - Take a good look around the next time that you visit the store.

If You Missed It The New York Times had a very nice story about New London in the Sunday Metroploitan Section. "A City Shaped By The Sea" That is two weeks in a row that NL is featured in the national press. Last week was The Boston Globe.

Cocktail Contest Update:
Due to the volume of entries - we feel that we must extend the deadline until August 22nd. Thank you all for the effort and thought that you are putting into this.
Gin and tequila seem to be the most popular base ingredients. And, many of the recipes are coming with beautiful photos that we will be able to include here in the weekly email.
This is much more interesting that we thought.
The winner of the contest receives a $100 gift card.

This Friday Night 5-8 PM
Angelini Wines Presented by Jeff Morin Angelini is a company steeped in Italian heritage. Owners Julius and Paul Angelini spent their childhood years in the farming village of San Lorenzo in Campo, within the Marche region of Italy.
"We are now very intently focused on making wines in a more natural, hands-off manner, working almost exclusively with Biodynamically grown fruit and seeking to reflect transparency in everything we do. The wines now really do show an originality of style and seem to be imbued with life-force and spirit, and this makes me very happy."
This is a locally owned family company that works very hard to offer the finest examples of each type they produce. Please try them this Friday night.
Angelini - Veneto Pinot Grigio Straw yellow with golden reflections. Intense and persistent with a light fragrance of bread crust. A soft, well balanced and dry white wine with flavors of tropical fruit and a clear, fresh finish; hinting of white peaches.
Pair with Seafood, cheese, poultry, fish and soups.
|
Deep, ruby red. Fruity with hints of raspberry, blueberry and peach. Dry, medium bodied, yet soft and harmonious with an abundance of fruit.
Perfect with all red meat dishes and pastas with cream sauces.
Please try it this Friday.
|
Red berries on the nose with a hint of candied apples and plums.
Dry, medium-bodied, yet velvety soft. Reminiscent of candied apples, a touch of spice, and plum flavors. Finishes with a tart, cranberry-like acidity.
Great with Pork chops, grilled fish such as salmon and pasta such as gnocchi in butter.
This will be Mr. Morin's first time at the store. We hope that you will join us and welcome him this Friday night.
Our weekly tastings are fun, informal, and a great way to start your weekend. And we sincerely appreciate all of the support that has made this a great summer season.

Often likened to the king of Italian cheese, Parmigiano-Reggiano, Piave is a deliciously nutty, pasteurized cow's milk cheese from the Veneto in northern Italy. It has a concentrated sweet, crystalline paste with a full, tropical fruit flavor and slight almond bitterness.
Aged for twelve months, Piave is wonderful as a table cheese, shaved over a salad of bitter greens, or enjoyed with an aperitif. Like Parmigiano, Piave has an affinity for both red and white wine, like the ones we are featuring this Friday night - but is smoother and easier to eat right from the wheel. We also like it paired with an amber ale.
