 Also This Week: Blanco Nieva
VERDEJO - Blanco Nieva is a classic Rueda region white wine made from the indigenous Verdejo grape. Crisp, bright and refreshing, this tank fermented wine will work as a stand alone refresher on a hot day as well as during a meal where it will pair well with salads, egg dishes and all manner of seafood.
If you want a great wine to grab before you head off to Ford's or Captain Scott's - this will do the job.
This wine isn't shy. The firm acidity here makes this one a compliment for nearly any food (lobster or ceviche would be my first choice). It is also perfectly suited to drink on its own. Viva Verdejo!

"Vina Eguia Reserva is picked from 30-year-old vines in Alavesa and sees 24 months in American oak.
It has an attractive, very aromatic bouquet with dried herbs, leather, fenneland a touch of peppermint that is natural and very pure.
The palate is very well-balanced with supple tannins, crisp acidity and a refined, mocha-tinged finish that is focused and persistent. This is another superbly crafted Rioja from Eguia."

New Cheese This Week
1 - Leonora - Goat's Milk - Spain Many of the great European cheeses have gained such popularity over the centuries that they have lost their handmade touch due to larger production facilities. This velvety log is a new addition to that ancient scene, created from a single herd of goats in Leon, Spain. The pasteurized milk keeps a fresh, flaky, though creamy texture while the ashed exterior forms a natural mold rind. Enjoy with a little dessert wine.
2 - Roncal - Sheep's Milk - Basque Spain
An ancient raw sheep milk cheese from Navarra in the Basque territory near the border of France. Pressed, aged paste develops a fuller, more gamy flavor than Manchego, to which it is often (mistakenly) likened. The aroma is musty and distinctly lanolin-y.
3 - Pata de Mulo - Sheep's Milk - Spain
Pata de Mulo is a wonderful introduction to Spanish sheep's milk cheeses. It has a mild citrus flavor with a firm, creamy texture. Serve it at room temperature with fruit or mebrillo jelly and a glass of Spanish red wine.
With a high cream content, its texture is smooth and pleasant. And compared to other sheep's milk cheeses it is relatively low in acidity, making for a flavorful yet approachable cheese.
