A Great Discovery - Great Value - Must Try

Cadetto Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC

Deep ruby red, with violet notes.
Concentrated, spicy liquorice, aromas of small forests fruits, with light hints of pepper, vanilla, and chocolate.

Very structured to the palate, full bodied and rich, with harmonious and elegant tannins. Long finish, intense and persistent, with notes of preserved fruits and spices.

Montepulciano 100%. Vineyard located within the estate, in the municipal district of Alanno.   $16

Podere Castorani Cadetto Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo DOC - $14

To achieve the lighter, vibrant style which sets Cerasuolo wines apart from their heftier counterparts, a particular winemaking technique is employed. The most important element of this is the reduced contact time between the fermenting juice and the red grape skins.

This serves to significantly lessen the red pigmentation of the must, resulting in the attractive cherry-like color which is behind the name Cerasuolo (meaning 'cherry' in Italian). While color is certainly important, bouquet and flavor are inevitably more so this technique results in wines with a brighter, fruitier taste and which are also lower in tannins. Less soaking time also means less absorption of tannins from the skins, pips and stems. The same techniques are used to make Cerasuolo di Vittoria, the first wine of Sicily to be granted DOCG status.

We will pull out a surprise or two to round it all out.

Meet The Owner Of Chateau Lamothe

New York Times:

"Château Lamothe de Haux's citric, mouthwatering Bordeaux blanc could replace entire lists of white wines in the city's seafood restaurants.

Bordeaux blanc is underappreciated in the United States. Lamothe's bone-dry version, blended from sauvignon blanc, sémillon and muscadelle grapes, pretty much typifies the genre at its best.

Drink it now."

The Master Class
Loire Valley
Presented by Deidre Magnello

2 Seats Remaining

The Loire Valley is France's most diverse wine region, producing exemplary wines in every style. Popularity of Loire Valley wines with sommeliers and wine writers has been growing steadily for the last ten years because for all their variety, Loire Valley wines share important characteristics that make them perfect for contemporary taste.

Moderate alcohol, refreshing acidity and minerality make them ideal food winesPure expression of varietal and terroir unmasked by oak. Excellent value.

The Loire Valley is the heart of France, famous for its natural beauty, magnificent châteaux and great wine. The region is rich in history and culture: Renaissance writer Rabelais was born here; Joan of Arc led French troops to victory in the Hundred Years' War in the Loire; and, as the Cradle of the French Language, its residents speak the purest French.

This is a great way to expand your wine knowledge in an informal atmosphere and to meet a wine industry veteran. Deidre Magnello has been traveling, teaching, and representing wine for over 20 years.
We will be pairing all of the wines with small bites and it is a rare chance to learn from an expert.

Wednesday May 7th 6:00 - 7:00 PM.
