I have to start by thanking everyone that turned out for the Kuka Beer tasting last Friday night. It turns out that there are a lot of people that were interested in the beer made with the exotic Maca Root from the Andes. We sold out of everything by 7:30pm.

Patrick Bailey from F&F Distributors did a great job presenting, and was so impressed by your thoughtful attention and questions that he has offered to do a series of beer education and tastings. We will publish that list next week.

Koden 2011 is the Third vintage of this new wine and concept made by Bodegas Luis Alegre, that just keeps on getting better by the vintage.

The concept of Koden is based on applying techniques that are used in making high end wines (cold maceration of the grapes, micro-oxygenation, use of new oak barrels and so on.) on a well priced easy to drink young wine.

The use of 100% Tempranillo grapes from our own vineyards with the vines (6 - 8 years old). As we know young vines are more limited in what they can give compared to older vines and for this reason they use techniques that are usually used in making high end wines. It shows. Give this a try on Friday.

Cune Rioja Crianza

This wine displays a medium intensity cherry red colour making the appearance very appealing. On the nose, you get black and red fruit aroma like cherry and raspberry. The palate is fresh with full ripe fruit.

The designation of Crianza on the label means wine is aged for at least two years and at least one of which was in oak.

Intense garnet in color - There are flavors of liquored cherries on the palate with hints of black pepper and eucalyptus. This wine is well structured with a fleshy mouth feel.
