TENNAT:
This very old grape variety comes from South West France where it is the base of the famous wines of Madiran. But the owners of Mooibly Wine Estate have planted it far, far, from home - North of Capetown in Paarl South Africa.
Known for its' high tannins and structure it creates full bodied wines. Tannat is one of France's oldest grape varieties but unfortunately unknown world wide. It grows vigorously and needs to be strictly controlled on the farm. Once this is done, the wine is deeply colored, with massive tannins and a lot of fruitiness.
This is full and complex - it is a perfect choice for foods that are rich. Think grilled meats, sauces, and that last piece of bread that is mopping up the most delicious gravy you have ever had. This is the one for you.
Full bodied cheese would also be a great choice.

We will start you off with the Tennat - and then weave our way around a bit.
