HERITAGE ZIN

Dry Creek Vineyard is one of the few remaining family owned wineries left in California.   With more than 40 years of grape growing and winemaking experience, our efforts continue to focus on the quality of wine in the bottle.  When founder David Stare started Dry Creek Vineyard, he began the winery with a single-minded effort to offer the highest quality wine possible at a reasonable price.  Dave realized that the success of the winery hinged upon providing that "something special" in the bottle to keep customers coming back for more.

Today, the second generation continues to build upon those early-established values.  Dave's daughter, Kim Stare Wallace and her husband, Don Wallace, are wholly committed to the quality of wine produced at Dry Creek Vineyard.  With an eye toward the future, Kim and Don continue their passion to produce high quality wines while being mindful of the original vision of the winery.

2010 Heritage Zinfandel - $16
WINE SPECTATOR:
87 Points - "Best of the West for $25 or Less!"
Heritage Zinfandel presents an excellent cool vintage aroma profile of blueberry, red currants, earthy dustiness and mineral nuances.

The low alcohol nature of this wine shines through immediately with silky smooth tannins and a firm grip of natural acidity and balance. The fruit is substantial with layers of black cherry, mixed berries, currants and allspice. This Zinfandel is superbly balanced and satisfying, repeating the earthy, mixed berry theme while also carrying forward subtler hints of white and black pepper. The finish lingers on creating a mouth-watering desire for another sip.

AVV LOGO1
Sonoma County's Alexander Valley was mostly prune orchards and pastures when, in 1962, Maggie and Harry Wetzel purchased a large portion of a homestead built by Cyrus Alexander, the valley's nineteenth century namesake. Here, in a rural community of family farms and ranches, the Wetzel family settled.

They raised livestock, cultivated bountiful gardens and restored Alexander's original
home, making it the center of family life. With an eye to their neighbors in nearby Napa Valley, the Wetzels boldly planted premium grape varieties, among the first in the area. Then the family built a small winery.

Hank Wetzel, oldest Sin Zin 2son of Maggie and Harry, produced Alexander Valley Vineyard's first wine in 1975. His wife Linda set up the books and managed the winery office. AVV quickly established a reputation for estate grown wines with distinctive varietal character. Acclaimed for crisp Chardonnay and luscious Cabernet Sauvignon, Alexander Valley Vineyards brought recognition to the appellation and became a leading winery in Sonoma County.

WINE & SPIRITS MAGAZINE:
"BEST BUY - The Years Best Zinfandel"

90 Points
- "This is floral, intensely earthy, powerful, and full bodied. A black wine with bountiful tannins.
This opaque and dark ruby Zinfandel opens with a eucalyptus and black raspberry bouquet.
On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, fruit forward, and lush. The flavor profile is a ripe blackberry with notes of black pepper, oak, and a hint of black raspberry. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins linger nicely. This Zin would pair well with grilled barbecue chicken."

We hope to see you this Friday Night.
