Help out at River Day, Cemetery Clean-up
Volunteers needed at Rotary Park, Novi Road Cemetery
Help us keep Novi's green spaces beautiful and make a difference in the community by giving of your time at the upcoming River Day and Cemetery Clean-Up events.

River Day, 9-11am on Saturday, May 21 at Rotary Park, is an annual event where volunteers gather for a spring cleaning of the park and the Rouge River Watershed. The watershed is the most urbanized watershed in the state, home to more than 1.35 million people in urban, suburban and rural communities. The Friends of the Rouge will be there to help and answer questions.

Cemetery Clean-Up, 9-11am on June 4 at the Novi Road Cemetery, is an annual event that helps with much needed clean-up at the historic cemetery. The event is a great way to honor our deceased soldiers by trimming shrubs and trees, pulling weeds around the headstones and planting flowers. Please bring your own tools if you have them.

If you are unable to make one of these events but still want to give back, there are opportunities to become a "park partner." Park partners could donate money, donate resources like shovels, gloves or flowers, or donate their time to clean a trail, a section of a park or help with planting.

All volunteers will receive a T-shirt. For more information about these events or to become a park partner, call 248.567.0316.
Swap plants at annual perennial exchange
Spring Perennial Exchange, 9-noon on May 28 at Fuerst Park
Divide your crowded perennials, such as daylillies, hostas, black-eyed Susans, grasses and more, and bring them to exchange for the plants you have always wanted.

The Spring Perennial Exchange, which takes place from 9-noon on May 28 at Fuerst Park, is presented by the Novi Beautification Commission. It is a great way to not only pick up new items for the yard but also meet other gardeners and score some new tips.

Parking is available in the lot off of Taft Road and there is no cost to participate. This event is a great way to grow and diversify your garden and enhance your landscape.
