GIRLS ON THE RUN TEACHES LIFE LESSONS
Running program combines friendship with fun workouts
Girls on the Run is a perfect opportunity for young girls looking for ways to be active and meet new friends. The program is for girls in grades 3-6 and concludes with a 5K race.

The beauty of Girls on the Run is that you do not have to be a runner to participate, and it combines working out with positive emotional, social, mental and physical encouragement.

Running groups meet twice a week from March 14-May 24, with the 5K race taking place on Sunday, May 24. Every participant receives a T-shirt and registration cost is $120 resident and $144 non-resident. Registration deadline is March 25.

Sign up online at cityofnovi.org or in person at the Novi Parks Office.

Volunteer coaches needed
Dedicated individuals (no running experience necessary) are needed to serve as coaches and work with the girls to help them achieve their goals. All coaches will be trained and be given a supply box. They also will receive a $20 discount for coaching.

The time commitment isn't much as practices only take place twice a week for an hour and a half for 10 weeks. Those interested in becoming a coach should contact Cristin Spiller at 248.347.0474.
ENSURE YOU CHILD IS IN THE RIGHT SEAT
Car seat safety check 1-4pm on March 18 at Fire Station #4
Making sure your child is in the right car seat is of the utmost importance, not only to comply with Michigan law but for their safety.

To help you know if your child is in the right seat, the Novi Fire Department is hosting a Car Seat Check from 1-4pm on Friday, March 18 at Novi Fire Station #4, 49375 Ten Mile Road.

Novi has four certified and licensed Child Passenger Safety Technicians ready to provide a free check or, if necessary, complete the child seat installation.

Community members are asked to bring the owner's manual for the vehicle and car seat, and, if possible, the child who will be using the safety seat. The check and/or installation should take about 25 minutes.

For more information, contact the Novi Fire Department at 248.349.2162 or schedule an appointment via email.
