Day 2 - Thursday, November 28th

Happy Thanksgiving from Honduras!

Today we started our work to be the hands and feet of Christ. Chris, Clinton, John, Kyle, Ronnie, Shawn, Stuart and Terry left early this morning to work on the "Salt and Light" project in Buena Vista.

Ben, Bill, Ernest and Frank started on the clinic kitchen destruction, lots of dust and mess.

Ann and Lil spent the morning helping sort hundreds of shoes, flip-flops, and clothes that have been donated by all of you. As we were working, we saw parents bring their children to the clinic. Many walk several miles to get here; something most of us cannot imagine.

Ann and Lil began cooking for our feast early with a 27lb. turkey!!  Shortly before the team returned from Buena Vista we lost power, so we ate our Thanksgiving dinner by candle light.

We all shared what we were thankful for during our devotions; we all feel very fortunate to be able to take part in working for Christ.

Power came on just in time for me to send email.

Day 3 - Friday, November 29th

Our day started early this morning with breakfast at 5:30; the team headed to Buena Vista at 6:00 and worked until 3:15 PM. The only time they slowed down was to share their peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with the children in the village. The home owner and his family help with the team by carrying blocks, handing blocks and mixing mortar. The project is progressing rapidly and will be ready for the metal rafters to be set on Sunday. Shawn spent much of the day playing with the children and keeping them entertained. God gives us all special talents.

The kitchen team has removed all the cabinets and appliances; now the re-configuring of the kitchen begins. New cabinets will be built tomorrow and the old ones are being refinished...much sanding going on!

Each evening, we reflect on the day's progress and plan for the next day's work.  Each one of us shares our experiences of the day and we also spend time getting to know one another a little better. Our devotion time is a time in which we share our faith, our walk with Christ and how we can better serve. It is such a pleasure to help such deserving people.
