Monday, October 21
The team packed up the bus and headed to La Union. Fourteen health care volunteers, 6 Translators, 3 drivers, 2 guards and 1 FOB director arrived in the village about 9:00 am to work their magic! We experienced quite a challenge getting up the mountain as our bus got stuck. Some of the men from the community came to help tie the bus's tow cable to different trees slowly moving it up the mountain. It truly took a village to get our team to the village! God was definitely with us at that moment!
Each group worked quickly to set up their assigned clinic. The medical team saw 192 patients; 25 were seen in the dental clinic, the deworming team 102, the fluoride team 32 and 11 patients received Vitamin A. Our pharmacy team worked hard to fill prescriptions as soon as our doctors ordered them.

The evening ended with the team sharing their stories of the day and devotionals. Many stories filled us with love, laughter and tears. As is customary with Friends of Barnabas teams, each member has been given a cross necklace to give away sometime during the week to a person who touches their heart. Linda Moore who assisted in the dental clinic was so moved, as we all were, by an 11-year-old boy born with Down Syndrome, Joshua. Joshua was our little hero! He had several teeth pulled and never fussed, though tears welled up in his eyes. Joshua was referred to Friends of Barnabas' Extended Care Program where he and his family will receive medical services, training and education to improve his quality of life.
Our love and thanks go out for a most wonderful and healing day!
