The term "o dark thirty" took on new meaning this morning as the Farmville #2 team gathered in Richmond by 0500. This team is a true blending of veteran travelers and first timers with high schoolers and old schoolers; however, all have a common goal and mission to serve God and the people of Honduras. The geographic spread of our team goes coast-to-coast with team members from California to Harrisonburg through Farmville and Yorktown, Virginia.
Our previous team meetings allowed us to at least recognize faces and our layover time in Miami gave us a chance to get to know each other a little better. Along with faces, people got to know each other's name and more about their families. Overall, the travel day of our trip brought us all closer. Everyone definitely appreciated the view on the drive over to Casa de Alfredo. We saw cows and horses grazing right next to the highway! It got us thinking about how, even though only several hours away, this place is worlds apart from what we know as home. It was a humbling experience to be somewhere where nearly everything is different.
We are looking forward to a tour of the facility tomorrow and worshiping in the local bilingual church. The afternoon will be spent preparing for our first clinic visit on Monday. We're ready for rest tonight and a full day tomorrow! God has blessed us today with safe travel, all duffels arriving safely and new friends. We are excited about what tomorrow and the rest of the week will bring.
