After all the hard work this week, we got a chance to take a step back and see more sites of this beautiful country! We started off with breakfast at the Barnabas house and headed to the breath- taking waterfalls. We then loaded up, said goodbye to Peña Blanca and headed to the Northern coast of Honduras.
We arrived at the beach after a two hour drive and relaxed over a lunch of fresh seafood at a quaint little beach hut restaurant. At this point of the coast we could see Guatemala. We then loaded up again and went down the street to a historic Fort where we enjoyed a guided tour. During the tour, we stopped at the chapel of the fort that was used by the soldiers and had a moment to reflect and pray together. Nury sang a beautiful song to us in Spanish and we serenaded her with "This Little Light of Mine"; the moment was very touching and powerful!
After the fort, we came to our hotel in San Pedro Sula, cleaned up and headed to a local restaurant for dinner. The restaurant was a hidden haven. String lights and lanterns hung from the trees as we dined outside and even got to share space with a magnificent peacock. Our last dinner was full of laughter, stories from the week and even people asking when they can come again! If you have ever considered joining a team, don't hesitate to make it happen. Your heart and life will be changed forever by the people and the beauty. For those who cannot travel, thank you for making it possible for us to be here.
After a quick stop by the market tomorrow, we will be dropped off at the airport and say goodbye to our Honduran family. Thank you for all your prayers throughout the week and please continue to pray for us as we travel home to our loved ones tomorrow. Also, keep a special prayer for the families and children whose lives we encountered this week.
