A foggy morning to start our day, and a bigger crowd at the table, as volunteers, translators and staff were present to break the fast, with about twenty nine people at the table together. Nury introduced all the staff & translators and Ronnie the volunteers. We had boiled eggs, bread or toast, fruit and juice. There was a mild sauce for the eggs. Many like the ever-available hot sauce as well.

We left a little after 7:30 this morning and traveled about an hour to El Cerron. We came to this village last year at this time as well, so there were familiar faces to a couple of us. It is a different feeling when you have the opportunity to see how someone is doing, that you have had the blessing of helping before, in a circumstance where it is very possible you would never see them again. God is good.

Eight team members gave crosses away today to people that touched their hearts (a little more on this below), including Carrie, Deedee, David, Mike, Roger and John. Jackie will be giving hers away to the mother of a boy FOBF has helped previously. He will be coming to Barnabas House soon as part of his recovery.
Katie Thornton did her first tooth extraction today, and then her second through sixth to follow. A little girl was referred to the health clinic for an infection in her nose, and an elderly man's legs were wrapped to help with severe varicose veins.

We did manage to fit some lunch in as well (like it would be any other way), and enjoyed ham & cheese and/or peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, mango, watermelon, and juice. How fortunate we are to be so well cared for and nourished to do our work.
The numbers by the end of the day are as follows.
Ear Washes - 11
Eye Clinic - 25
Fluoride Treatments - 42
Dental Clinic - 50 patients and 60 extractions
Vitamin A - 32
De-worming - 130
Medical Clinic - 262
Referrals - 1
Back at Alfredo House around 4:50 we settled in for our evening. Dinner was fried chicken, green beans, potato salad, cauliflower, tortillas and juice, with bread pudding and cantaloupe for dessert.
We sang before devotion as Carrie again played the flute. Devotion was given by Deedee Jamison, and included an opening prayer and a reading through a sermon given this past Sunday by Reverend Linwood Cook. We closed devotion singing "Thank You for Giving to the Lord". Afterward, Ronnie asked that some of the new team members reflect on their experience, and this quickly became a testimony to God's work here as new and previous members told of experiences that touched their hearts and in many cases ended with a cross being given.

It was truly a blessed day, and God's presence was with us throughout.
Indeed, God is good . . .
Regards,
R Scott Williams on behalf of the Danville Mountain Medical Mission Team
