Greetings!
The Laurel Hill UMC Mountain Medical Mission Team arrived safely at La Casa de Alfredo late Saturday afternoon. There was an unexpected blessing in Atlanta as we departed our plane from Richmond. We found that our connecting flight to San Pedro Sula was to depart from the adjacent gate, so a mad rush from terminal to terminal was not required.
We met Nury, the Barnabas House Director, at the airport in San Pedro Sula. We waited at the airport for Stanley Michael from Criders, Virginia. Stan had a connecting flight from Miami. He will be doing some maintenance work around the Barnabas House facilities this week.
While we were waiting we encountered a group of girls from an orphanage run by Lifeline Christian Mission of Columbus Ohio. They were waiting for the president of this mission to visit them. These young girls were so friendly and lively. They quickly made friends with the team members. They exchanged many hugs and giggles with the team
Our driver, Elmer, expertly drove our bus from the airport to Pena Blanca. It was a rainy ride but Elmer got us safely to La Casa de Alfredo. The staff prepared a wonderful supper for Saturday evening. We enjoyed chicken with peppers and onions, rice, pataste, ayote, tomatoes, cantaloupe, and pineapple.
During devotion on Saturday evening, there was much witness to the effective work of God through Rev.Linwood Cook's vision and how The Friends of Barnabas Foundation has grown in size and outreach.
Sunday is a day to worship at a local church, to tour the Barnabas House, sort out medications for the week, and go out for dinner. We will be going to five mountain communities this week and for three of these it will be for the first medical team visits from The Friends of Barnabas Foundation.
Thanks to all of our families, friends and churches and the staff for your prayers and support. Love from all of the Laurel Hills UMC/FOBF medical mission team members:

Anita, one of our team members, had a cross-sharing moment at the airport. Anita noticed a little girl with Down's syndrome who was with her grandmother. She kept staring at Anita's cross. Anita could not understand her or her grandmother but could read the little girl's face, so she gave her the cross. Praise The Lord for His Love endures to all generations.
