NORTHWEST WISCONSIN HEALTHCARE NETWORK DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE

The Northwest Wisconsin Healthcare Network (NWHN) Development Initiative is bringing together industry, education and other community partners with a wide breadth of experience to collaborate in strengthening the workforce in northwest Wisconsin. Funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration, the NWHN Initiative has supported the development of a formal network of health and mental healthcare providers, educational institutions, local public health departments, and workforce and economic development organizations.

Currently, the NWHN is working on a workforce needs assessment to identify challenges as well as community and provider strengths and resources. Over 40 organizations participated in a survey describing expected workforce needs, priorities, challenges, service impacts and solutions for over 70 health and behavioral health care facilities in northwest Wisconsin. The NWHN is now preparing to facilitate four focus groups scheduled in March and April in Ashland, Hayward, Phillips, and Superior. The focus groups will provide a more in-depth understanding of workforce challenges, as well as identify areas for potential collaboration. Along with interviews, a network self-assessment survey, and SWOT analysis, these data will inform the development of a Network Strategic Plan later this year. For more information, please contact
nwhn@nwcep.org.
