It has been only a few short days since April 1st when we opened the doors to our beautiful new space at 24 Hazelton Avenue.  We are feeling most grateful that many of you have already visited us and we are excited by your enthusiasm for the gallery's new home.  With over double the exhibition space of our former location, our new abode offers many light filled rooms and walls spread over nearly 5000 square feet for you to explore.  Our Hazelton home is an exceptional environment to view and discover art, affording us the opportunity to offer even more when it comes to appreciating, collecting and discussing Canadian art.

Ryan Price opens his latest and greatest collection Thursday, April 9th in his new solo exhibition Bedtime Stories.  Please join us at the gallery between 6pm and 8pm for our opening night celebration with the artist.  Price's reception marks our first event in our new building.

RYAN PRICE
Bedtime Stories
April 9 - 25 . 2015

Opening Reception: Thursday, April 9th | 6pm-8pm

Reading bedtime stories is very often the final waking act of our day.
It is the border point between worlds.
Movement and rest, the conscious and
unconscious, order and chaos.....
-Ryan Price, 2015

Creating in studio over winter, between the lush seasons of autumn and spring, Ryan Price channelled the growth ahead into an evolution of his drywall works.  Perfecting a smooth gypsum surface, Price now sits his sophisticated lines entwined with strategic colour on a polished ground with gorgeous wood edgings.  For subject matter, Price looked to the classics, the stories: bedtime stories, legends, fairy tales and children's books.

Where anything can happen and everything does -- the world presented in these great narratives act as gateways to our dreamworld from our waking life.  Universal allegories, rich in symbolism allow Price through his own unique imagery to build on what we know.  This encourages us to see what we have not -- with new eyes and understanding.

Bedtime Stories is Ryan Price 5th solo exhibition with Ingram Gallery.  In addition to mastering his renowned drywall works, Price excels at the art of printmaking and makes exquisite lines in many media.  He has had public gallery showings and has been involved with great publications, including The Raven where he re-illustrated with breathtaking beauty Edgar Allan Poe's original horror story.  Price lives and creates in Guelph, Ontario with his talented and close-knit family.

There are twelve new works in the collection -- please click here for a preview.  The exhibition opens at 11am Thursday, April 9th.

As spring returns and the days stretch out, we have much in store for you in fresh programming and gallery events.  We schedule our exhibitions a year in advance.  As such, our complete 2015 exhibition schedule is always online and available to check for saving dates and planning your visits.  The month of May marks not one, but two artists with newly available works.  May 2nd will see us releasing a small collection of newly available pieces by Florence Vale.  Ever so enticing and accomplished, the works of Vale make for in depth conversations and always a desire to learn more about such a unique artist here at the gallery.  John Doyle opens Interpretations: Tree Lines and Colour on May 23rd.  Exhibiting for decades, Doyle's upcoming solo is his first since joining Ingram Gallery.
