Business Intelligence (BI) seems to be the technology topic of the moment, but is this just a passing fad, or is there real substance to reimagining how we generate financial and operational reports? Increasingly, the answer appears to be that BI is here to stay as organizations of all sizes seem to be ready, willing, and progressively able to turn the "big data" that they have been accumulating for years into actionable information.
How are organizations allocating their resources when investing in technology? The answers may surprise you. One recent study published by Gartner indicates that overall technology spending will increase by just 0.6% in 2016. While that seems like a relatively insignificant number, it comes on the heels of an overall 5.8% decline in 2015.
