ferndaleFerndale Square Goes Green

Ferndale Square is in amidst an exciting renovation project aimed to help residents save money. Families in this small-town community will soon be seeing a drop in their energy bills with new siding and energy efficient hot water tanks and appliances. Improvements also include outdoor community BBQs, a communal garden as well as a new basketball hoop for our Ferndale Square athletes!

This project continues MHNW's efforts to revitalize rural development properties by improving energy efficiency. Updating home appliances, decreasing the use of excess water and better air quality not only cuts our resident's bills by 20%, but also reduces our community's carbon footprint. During 2010 and 2011, over 225 units in Washington State were renovated under the HUD Green Retrofit Program.

givebigCome May, it's time to GiveBIG

Our community's biggest day of giving of the year is coming up! That's right, the third annual GiveBIG is upon us. A donation to MHNW on May 15th will be "stretched" or matched by a pool of corporate donors and The Seattle Foundation, growing your gift during this one day, online giving campaign.

GiveBIG will kick start MHNW Back to School Campaign, providing our youth with backpacks and school supplies for the upcoming school year. Please help spread the word to your friends and family in support of MHNW. Share this link or stay up to date with our Facebook page!

legacyEstablishing a Lasting Legacy

Mercy Housing Northwest was recently reminded of the deep generosity of our supporters after receiving a donation in the form of a bequest. We are honored to help establish a lasting legacy that will assist residents in need for a long time to come. Legacy gifts are vital in helping ensure our residents continue to be served with dignity and respect. There are multiple ways for you to support MHNW:

  • In memory of - make a contribution in memory of or in honor of a loved one.
  • In celebration of - in lieu of a gift ask your friends and family to donate to MHNW.
  • Workplace giving - many businesses often encourage their employees to contribute to the community through a match fund program.
  • Bequests and wills - after providing for your family and friends, you may wish to leave a charitable gift in your will.
