... the peaks, the photo tonight is a shot I took this afternoon of the north side of the San Francisco Peaks. Humphreys Peak is on the right side of the image, not sure what the other peaks are on the N facing slopes but they are pretty neat. The aspen groves are showing a lot of color and are not that far from reaching peak color. Unfortunately/fortunately I am leaving on my trip on Wednesday and hoping to catch the color in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Fortunately I will not be here to see all this beauty buried in smoke from prescribed burns which are scheduled to begin near the peaks on Thursday. Don't you just love the planning that goes into the USFS fire units and plans? Why wait a couple of weeks until the tourist attracting color on the peaks is past prime when you can do it now and bury it in smoke, messing it up for tourists and photographers? Perhaps they will relent and delay the burning.

One more shot at getting into the Lockett Meadow tomorrow morning; got some nice shots in there today too, but the air was pretty messy. Speaking of which I am attaching a link to an article written by my friend Bob Thompson on Roque Air ... pretty fascinating information and glad all his instincts were working last July 4th . Last Friday after landing and rolling out with speed well below 30 kts, I was picked up, turned about 70 degrees and unceremoniously plopped down after recovering most of the straight ahead flight line ... clear air thermal ... rogue air ... http://tinyurl.com/k8anzml

Think you will enjoy the article

On the right side of the image you can see where the plateau drops off into Sedona and beyond that Mingus Mountain.

Have a terrific day and share your joy.

Cheers

I'll not bother to reform myself today.

Perhaps tomorrow --- if it is raining,

and I must stay indoors, and meditate

on the shortcomings of life.
