March 29, 2016

Dear Compost Enthusiast,

Thank you for being a dedicated curbside composter in Salem! As promised, we now have some finished compost available for your use.

The compost will be available at Mack Park from Saturday, April 2 through Sunday, April 10, 2016.  If your household has participated in the curbside program for the past year, you are now eligible to receive 6 gallons of finished compost.  (Brand new participants will be eligible next year.)

You may bring your 12-gallon compost toter to Mack Park during the above week and fill it halfway, which is approximately 6 gallons.  You may also use another 6 gallon container if you prefer.  This will be done on the honor system, so if some participants take excess compost, there may not be enough for the entire group.

Directions to Mack Park: Take Mason St. to Tremont St.; take a left at the pillars; go through the parking lot staying to the left of the circular driveway.  The compost pile will be on the right hand side of the path.

Should you need additional compost, Black Earth's compost is now available for sale at Crosby's Market on Canal Street in Salem, MA.

Remaining pick up dates for the free pilot program are April 6&7 and April 13&14.  If you have signed up for the subscription program, you will continue weekly pickup.  Beginning April 21, everyone's pickup day will be Thursday.  If you are not participating in the subscription program, please clean and return your toter to DPS at 5 Jefferson Avenue.

Thank you for participating in the City's curbside compost program and for making our city and our planet greener!

Sincerely,
Julie Rose
