Anna Mia Davidson
In this speaker spotlight, we introduce Anna Mia Davidson, a professional photographer based in Seattle. Anna believes strongly in the power of images to influence, inspire, and impact the way we see the world. She has two published books, Cuba Black And White (Steidl) and  (Minor Matters Books). In addition, her work has been awarded several honors including an invitation by the State Department as a US Embassy Arts Envoy to Thailand, sponsorship by The Blue Earth Alliance, a commission by Aperture, the Jeni Dellaccio Award for Photography, three International Photo Awards, Grants from Artist Trust and Seattle Office of Arts and Culture, The University of Colorado Talent and Creativity Award for Photojournalism, the Cesar Chavez Certificate for Commitment to Justice, Diversity, and Nonviolence, the 2004 Golden Light Top Photographers Award for Documentary photography and an artist residency from the Photo Center Northwest.

2016 Annual LHSA Photo Contest! 

Enter the LHSA Photo Contest for a chance to win a Leica D-Lux Typ 109 digital camera - an $1100.00 value! Winners will be announced at the Annual Meeting in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Below is a snapshot of the contest rules:
  • Theme: DOCUMENTARY photography, which is defined as follows: A single photograph of an unstaged situation that has a high human interest element and/or a fresh view of an everyday scene. Examples include, but are not restricted to, socio-economic, health, environmental or current affair subjects.
     
  • Entries: must have been shot in 2015 or 2016 and shall be the work of the photographer.
     
  • Submissions: must be sent via email to info@lhsa.org and shall be accepted no later than 4:00 pm CST, Sept 9, 2016
  • Who May Enter: The contest is open to individuals over the age of 18.  Use of a Leica camera is not required. Contest is Void where prohibited.
  • Judging: Images will be judged by a panel, headed by John Lehmann
    John Lehmann is the 2016 Canadian Association of Journalists, Photojournalist of the Year, and will be the keynote speaker on October 8, 2016 at the LHSA Annual Meeting in Vancouver. 
  • Fee: A fee of $20 per entry(up to two images per entry) is required. Limit 2 entries (4 images) per person.
