North Texas Giving Day - Donate to SouthFair!
September 17th is the big day! SouthFair is once again participating in North Texas Giving Day (NTGD), an online philanthropy event that has become the single biggest charitable giving event of its kind in the nation.  Last year there were 75,000 donations totaling $26.3 million and this year North Texans are expected to be even more generous.  NTGD is set up to allow anyone to donate to SouthFair and other nonprofits. You can visit SouthFair's donation page by clicking here. Donations will be amplified by more than $2 million dollars in bonus funds and prizes from area foundations and sponsors.

That means your gift to SouthFair will attract bonus funds, amplifying the effect of your generosity.  On September 17, from 6 a.m. to midnight, all donations of $25 or more made online at www.NorthTexasGivingDay.org will count.

SouthFair primarily sustains itself through development activity but we need your help.  We build fantastic homes for low-to- moderate income homeowners and manage affordable housing while revitalizing South Dallas.  We can't do it alone. Our costs include everything a private developer would pay plus credit counseling, homebuyer counseling, tenant and neighborhood programs.  Most importantly, we keep our sales prices and rents affordable to help the families that need us. We rely on the City, small grants and generous donors like you.  Giving Day is our dedicated annual fundraising event. Please consider donating on September 17th and sharing our message.

SouthFair's mission is to improve the quality of life for the residents of South Dallas through the promotion of neighborhood revitalization, primarily through the development of affordable housing, economic activity and the provision of needed support services. Further, to promote housing choice for low and moderate income households, SouthFair will consider the development of affordable housing as needed within the greater Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area.

Fair Park Estates: Good Things Happening in 2015

Mr. Jackson's New Home

Thanks Inwood Bank!

SouthFair had its best year yet in 2014 by selling a record ten houses. Through the hard work of our staff and support from our Board of Directors, lenders, City of Dallas and others we hope to repeat this success.

We are thrilled that we have started off well in 2015. SouthFair started off the year with a sale in February. Mr. Jackson joined the Fair Park Estates family with a direct purchase. Our Housing Assistant, Lois Lilly assisted Mr. Jackson with the closing process.

SouthFair proceeded with another sale in May with our rent to own resident.

Ms. Landers was dedicated to the process of purchasing her home. She worked with our housing counselor, Andrea Fowler for a year to become mortgage ready. There was a slight hiccup towards the end but we are very proud that Ms. Landers stayed the course. Congrats!

Thanks Service First!

We ended the hot month of July with a direct purchase from Mr. Johnson and began the last summer month of the year with Ms. Bundred closing on her house. Ms. Bundred is a graduate of our rent-to-own program. She was dedicated to the process in its entirety. We are so proud of her!

Ms. Baker and Ms. Blanton ended August with two closing. Ms. Blanton purchase her first house from SouthFair.

Thanks Gold Financial!

Ms. Baker is another graduate of the rent to own program. She is also the Fair Park Estates Neighborhood Association President. Ms. Baker is doing a phenomenal job and is currently making plans for the October 6th National Night Out. This will not only include Fair Park Estates residents but also residents from SouthFair's Boulevard Square and Ethel Parnell Place Apartments. SouthFair will support and participate in the event with an open house, food, DJ and more!

Thanks BBVA Compass!

Loss of a Board Member, Mentor and Friend: Theodore M. Lawe

In July, SouthFair lost a beloved board member, Theodore M. Lawe better known to all as Ted. Ted was a long standing board member of SouthFair and dedicated to the success and growth of African American communities, in particular South Dallas. Ted was an extremely intellegent, sincere and a well respected man. He will be greatly missed.
