Staff Member Spotlight: Andrea Fowler
|
Andrea Fowler is a native of Ruston, Louisiana. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Management from Louisiana State University and her Master of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies with concentrations of Public Administration, Community Services, and Economic Development from the University of North Texas. She became a certified Housing Counselor and a licensed Real Estate Agent in 2013.
Andrea's career goal is to help improve the communities of low to moderate income families through housing. Andrea devotes her time volunteering with Big Brothers Big Sisters and her sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. She currently holds the Housing Counselor position at Southfair.
Getting to know Andrea:
Where born: City, State- Ruston, LA
Favorite restaurant, dish, or pig-out food - Jambalaya - it is the only dish I would eat for leftovers with no issue
Family -Raised as an only child with my parents in Louisiana. In Texas, it is just me and my dog, Ace.
Famous person you would most like to meet- I met Brandy back in 2012. I have Monica, Beyonce, Oprah, Donna Brazille and the Obamas on my list
Words that describe you best - Adventurous, Devoted, Giver, Service
In your spare time you . . . - I rarely have spare time but when I do I like to catch up on my reality TV. It is a guilty pleasure!
If you've learned one thing in life, it is . . . - Always go with your gut. I feel like if I listen to it more often, I wouldn't make the decisions that I make. What are your hopes/desires for SouthFair and the South Dallas community?- I hope that SouthFair will be able to truly revitalize the community. I see true potential in South Dallas. I am not from the area but I've always yearned to see prominence in our predominantly African American communities. MLK had a dream and we have experienced so much in those 50 years but it seems like the dream he had is quickly forgotten. It is time to build South Dallas and I would be glad to be apart of that movement.
