The Family Voice on Stollery Quality Councils
|
The goal of the Quality Councils is to deliver better quality, better outcomes and better value to patients at the Stollery Children's Hospital. Quality Councils across the hospital are a venue for front-line teams to participate in quality planning, quality monitoring and quality improvement.
We are fortunate to have several family members sitting on quality councils at the Stollery. A special thank you to our Family Centred Care Network Members:
- Karen Calhoun, Surgical Quality Council
- Anne-Marie Paquin and Ashley Volkerink, Ambulatory Quality Council
- Amanda Moon, Stollery Quality Council (CHIPS)
- Donald Lepp and Rossella Trulli, PICU/PCICU Quality Council
- Ian Mathieson and Raya Owen, NICU Quality Council (CPQI)
- Nicole Lyste, Medicine Quality Council
Having families at the table on these important quality improvement initiatives is very important to ensuring the patient and family voice remains at the centre of care at the Stollery. If you would like to read more about the Alberta Health Services "Patient First Strategy" you can find that here.
We are also looking for more volunteers to sit on the Medicine Quality Council Unit (4E4 and 5G4). The Medicine Quality Council meets every 1st Thursday of the month from 2:00 pm- 3:00 pm. Are/were you a patient or family member with experience on a medicine ward at the Stollery and:
- a big picture thinker;
- able to share your story and personal experience in a constructive manner;
- able to represent the family perspective (beyond your own personal experience) in an informed manner and able to solicit input as required; and
- have previous experience, or interested in learning about process review, quality improvement, or planning.
This might be a great volunteer opportunity for you, if you are interested please contact Christie.
