Thank you taking the time to read this informative email.  In this email we will share our immediate needs and our plans for the next few years.  If you are able to make a tax deductible contribution to WVCS please contact us.  email

Enrollment trends and facility needs:
Consider over 120 new families have enrolled over the last four years... will this trend continue? We hope so!  Other enrollment indicators include:  preschool has capacity enrollment; this year we added two kindergarten classes;  due to capacity enrollment for several ages we have declined admissions for over 10 children; and we have already conducted multiple admissions tours for next year.

By 2018, if we add two classes per grade from TK through 8th grade we would reach our capacity enrollment of 500 students.

When will we move into the 17,000 square foot space upstairs?  -when we enroll 400 students and $80,000.00.

The following recent improvements will continue to attract new families:  new teaching strategies to continue to improve writing, language arts and math; increased daily hours to Teacher Aides in classrooms; Individual Academic Support program to identify and improve academic skills gaps;  WASC accreditation granted 6 year term and approved our 6 year Action Plan (read more); adding new educational programs such as IXL, Acuity testing, Spelling City, new math curriculum; training teachers in the use of interactive boards; and the addition of qualified teachers and new program staff.  Have you noticed the quality of our program staff who teach art, music, theater arts, piano, violin, computer, and Spanish?

We appreciate your contributions to make WVCS a special place where God is honored and children are inspired to be their best.

Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten Round Up

Dates:
Nov. 18th, Dec. 16th, Jan. 20th

Once a month we want to invite Pre K and Transitional Kindergarten parents and children to come visit our school. We will create a fun and welcoming atmosphere that will allow you to attend our elementary assembly, join a classroom lesson and meet the administration. To allow you to visit a classroom lesson we need to limit the amount of guests to 4 children each visit. Transitional and Kindergarten Round Up: To RSVP, please call our office at 818-884-4710 to visit our Kindergarten classroom and student body assembly: Nov.18, Dec.16, Jan. 20, Feb. 17. (We will also have additional dates in March, April and May - if we have remaining openings). Come and check us out from 8am-10am.

Technology

We are seeking technology support for our computers and network.  If you know a skilled and trained IT person who can help service our school's technology, please have them contact our school office.

We are still seeking surveillance cameras in the library, parking lot and hallways.  This will prevent theft from parked cars and from the classrooms.  We would appreciate your help with installation of equipment or with the expense of this project.

High school

Will WVCS have high school on our campus again?  We need to have $75,000.00 for each grade level (10 students paying $7,500.00).  We would like to have a verbal commitment by January 4th so that we can seek qualified faculty.

Transitional Kindergarten 2016

Will we have Transitional Kindergarten again next year?  Yes.  We are going to add a TK class if we have 10 students enroll by April 15th.

How do we determine whether we will add two classes per grade?  We seek to have maximum enrollment of 23 students per classroom.  If we have total of 30 students we will add another class.  This year we added two Kindergarten classes and had to decline enrollment to several students interested in 3rd grade since we met our capacity at 23 but did not have 30 students to open an additional 3rd grade classroom.  Next year, it is likely that we will have two Kindergarten classes, two 4th grade classes and two 1st grade classes.  Remember to re-enroll so that you can reserve a spot.

Gardener

We are also seeking a gardener who can cut fescue, edge fescue perimeter, prune hedges, blow clippings and weed control planters and tree areas.

Thank you for your support
