Doug Rose
Doug Rose recently passed away. Doug casts a large shadow when it comes to fly fishing on the Olympic Peninsula. His books, articles, blog, seminars, and guide trips gave people throughout the world an introduction to our little piece of paradise.
Besides being a gifted writer Doug was one of the good guys. He rarely talked about himself and always focused on the people and places of the Olympic Peninsula. When you read his work you were transported to the water by his side as he fished with his many good friends. He supported everyone in the local fly fishing scene, from guides to local fly tyers with nothing ever asked in return.
A day spent fishing with Doug was a treasure. He will not only be remembered through his writing but in the memories of everyone who was lucky enough to meet him both on and off the water. We should all aim to be as generous, humble, and friendly as Doug was.
Doug , we miss you.

Trip of The Week
Curt had a trip before the rivers rose with a father and son from Michigan. The father spent the day enjoying the scenic float and let Jamison fish all day. They mixed it up with some instruction on swinging the fly as well as lots of nymphing. Jamison is a naturally gifted spey caster and with some practice will be out casting all of us.
He connected with this gorgeous wild winter run. What a great experience for both father and son. These are the types of memories we love to have a hand in creating. |

Echo Dec Hogan II Special
We are expecting our first shipment of this new spey rod around April 15th. To celebrate their arrival, we will throw in a free Airflo or RIO Spey head for all Dec Hogan II rods purchased this month.
With summer fast approaching the Dec Hogan II Spey offers a true in-between size with the 12'9" 6.5 wt. This rod hits the sweet spot for summer-run steelhead fly fishing throughout the Northwest, especially for the larger rivers.
The 12'6" 6wt is an all around summer steelhead rod for throwing a dry line and small wet / dry flies.
The 13'0" 7wt becomes a nice all around spey rod if you can only have one. Light enough for summer steelhead but strong enough to throw tips and large flies for our coastal native winter runs. Also a nice stick for dream trips to the Dean or Skeena.
The 13'3" 8wt will be a favorite during the winter months here on the Washington Coast. Heavy tips and large intruders will sail across the river to fishy slots with this new spey rod.
Free shipping, no sales tax (we pay it for WA residents), and a free Spey head. What are you waiting for.
