2013 NJWEA Operation Challenge Results!
Congratulations to OCWA's two Operations Challenge Teams. The OCWA Jets came in 3rd place overall, while The Flangetastic Four came in 3rd place in the Lab competition. Special kudos to Carly McLennan, one of OCWA's Operator/Mechanics in Stratford for winning the title of Women's Fastest Saw Cut!

The last little while has been busy here at OCWA! Our staff went from celebrating the successful piloting of new technologies in Killaloe (Feature - below), to standing beside our client communities during times of distress ("OCWA in the Community - Minden Hills Flooding").

OCWA, Township of Killaloe and SanEcoTec Celebrate Successful Pilot for THM Reduction Huwa-San also being implemented in second Ontario community

The Township of Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards held an open house and ribbon cutting event at the Killaloe Water Treatment Plant to mark the successful implementation of the pilot project to reduce Trihalomethane (THM) concentrations in the drinking water system. The project utilized SanEcoTec's product, Huwa-San hydrogen peroxide (HSP) as a secondary disinfectant.
A second Ontario community, Glencoe, recently announced that it too will be using Huwa-San, becoming the second community in North America to utilize the hydrogen peroxide as a secondary water treatment. Read Full Article (courtesy of London Free Press) |

OCWA Responds to Flooding in Minden Hills
On April 20, 2013, The Township of Minden Hills declared a State of Emergency after heavy rainfall and snowmelt in the Trent-Severn led to a "100 year flood" of the Gull River. The flood caused major damage to residential and commercial properties in this community of 5,000, also leading to road and bridge closures throughout the area.
With water levels peaking on April 23, OCWA's Emergency Response Team were called to the community, bringing two team members and additional pumping equipment. Read Case Study

A Great Start for OCWA's GlobalMedic Campaign as Staff Raise over $7K in the Mississauga Marathon

A team of OCWA employees walked and ran in various Mississauga Marathon events May 4 and 5 to raise money for OCWA's GlobalMedic campaign. Participants raised $7,347 to date and are continuing to collect donations until the end of the month. Click here if you would like to make a donation.
