OCWA's New Partnership with West Elgin 
OCWA has partnered with
the Municipality of West Elgin to manage operations of their water distribution system. "OCWA makes its commitment to providing clean, safe water to Ontarians a number one priority," said Bev Mollard, VP, Operations, OCWA. "We are proud that the municipality has chosen OCWA as a trusted operator for their water systems and we look forward to being able to extend that trust to those within the community."  
OCWA Expands Client Relations Team
Dealing with an ever-expanding - and far-reaching - client base, OCWA has recently hired new Business Development Managers, who will act as the point person within specified regions across the province. These managers will provide expertise and solutions for individual water and wastewater needs and facility environments. Meet the Team 
 
OCWA Operations Challenge Teams Take Top Honours at WEAO 
Congratulations to The OCWA Jets for placing 1st overall at the Operations Challenge at WEAO this year. This secures their spot to compete in October's WEFTEC 2013 (in Chicago). Also, congratulations to The Flangetastic Four, who also did OCWA proud by placing 3rd overall.

OCWA Workshops - Pipeline Inspection

OCWA will be holding a series of workshops in mid-June, discussing the importance of regular condition assessment to  verify whether pipelines need to be repaired, rehabilitated or replaced. Working with some of our partners, OCWA will be offering pipeline inspection services to our clients. The OCWA Jets Take First Place at WEAO's Ops Challenge

It's been a busy month at OCWA! Not only did we officially launch our A Prescription for Clean Water program (see OCWA in the Community below), but our Operations Challenge teams, The OCWA Jets and The Flangetastic Four competed at WEAO, placing a very impressive 1st and 3rd overall (see Industry News at left).

This coming month, we look forward to exhibiting and presenting at various industry conferences and events, including the OWWA/OMWA Joint Annual Conference and OWWEA Tradeshow (see article below).

We look forward to seeing you out and about throughout May.

Case Study: First Nation Emergency Response
Quick response leads to improved water quality in one First Nation Community
Shawanaga First Nation, located near Parry Sound, had been faced with a devastating water shortage and hundreds of boil water advisories after their two main wells ran dry in 2006. Then, in 2011, they also lost their only certified water plant operator, creating a water quality risk to local residents. OCWA and the Clean Water Foundation have teamed up to ask the public to return unused and unwanted medications back to the pharmacy so they can be disposed of safely, as opposed to flushing them down the toilet or sink, or throwing them into the garbage. The two organizations officially launched A Prescription for Clean Water with a booth at the Green Living Show in Toronto on April 12-14.  Continue Reading.
