USDA-NASS Crop Progress report released May 9, 2016 shows 64 percent of corn acres planted. This is 5 percent behind 2015 but 14 percent ahead of the 2011-2015 average. Western cornbelt states continue quick progress toward completion of corn planting with large increases in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Nebraska and South Dakota. Progress was slowed in the Easter cornbelt with only 8 and 3 percent increases in Indiana and Ohio respectively.
