USDA-NASS Crop Progress report released May 2, 2016 shows 45 percent of corn acres planted. This is equal to 2015 and 15 percent ahead of the 2011-2015 average. Missouri continued to lead the way with 89 percent planted followed by Illinois which jumped to 66 percent, an increase of 24 percent. Large increases were also seen in Indiana and Ohio with increases of 19 percent. Iowa was close behind with an increase of 17 percent.
