It's our 40th anniversary!

At The Summit Resort Hotel, we like to think after 40 years in business, we're more youthful, warm and welcoming than ever.

That's because time stops in St. Maarten and because you-our honored guests-have kept us young. You've made us laugh, told us your stories, and come back to visit time and again. Many of you are truly family to us. Thanks for making us one of the most popular resorts on St. Maarten.

If you haven't visited us and the gorgeous island of St. Maarten in awhile, there's no time like the present. Our beautiful hotel is perched on a bluff overlooking the clear blue waters of Simpson Bay Lagoon. Here, warm sand and tropical breezes are the order of the day, every day of the year. A Grand Gala for a Grand Hotel

St. Maarten Prime Minister Sarah Wescot-Williams was on hand to help celebrate at our 40th anniversary gala. She spoke kindly about the Summit Hotel and its lovely history, and took time to pose for pictures with many guests. Of course, a 40-year history means many memories, and the guests were treated to pictures and stories of the old days and a steel pan band.

In addition, several people were honored at the event including:

Mrs. "Mena" Reiph-Welcome who celebrated 40 years of service at the hotel. As the Head of Housekeeping, she began working at the Summit when it first opened for business in November 1973. Her warm smile is one of the first things to greet our guests since the day we first opened our doors.

Ms. Muriel Welcome who celebrated 37 years of service. Ms. Muriel is Ms. Mena's sister and joined The Summit Resort Hotel in 1977. The two have been working in Housekeeping ever since.

General Manager Evans, who was born at the hotel and is the daughter of Ms. Mena. And now Evans, is raising her son, Georges Honor� with the Summit Resort Hotel Family as well.

Also recognized at our anniversary gala were two other beloved staff members: former General Managers Keith Franca, who served from 1981-1986 and Leo Petersen who served from 1986-2008.

Heineken Regatta - The King of Boat Races

The St. Maarten 34th Heineken Regatta is one of the most exciting events of the year, and is slated to take place March 6-9 this year. Sailors come from around the world to compete in this thrilling race and because each year it lives up to its motto: Serious Fun. Many organizations and volunteers, such as the Coast Guard St. Maarten and St. Maarten Sea Rescue Foundation work hard to keep sailors and party-goers safe on land and sea.
