Facebook Addiction Test
I was walking through the store and saw a mother struggling to keep two young children out of trouble while she did her shopping. Just as I walked by I heard the "Facebook" sound on her iPhone.

This mother immediately stopped, found her iPhone, and checked her Facebook account. She didn't seem to notice her children wandering off. Even though I couldn't think of one, maybe there was a situation where something on Facebook needed that kind of immediate attention.

Or maybe she had an unhealthy need for Facebook.

A recent study developed the following test for counselors to diagnose Facebook addiction. Answer the following with either (1) Very rarely, (2) Rarely, (3) Sometimes, (4) Often, and (5) Very often.
  • You spend a lot of time thinking about Facebook or planning how to use it.
  • You feel an urge to use Facebook more and more.
  • You use Facebook in order to forget about personal problems.
  • You have tried to cut down on the use of Facebook without success.
  • You become restless or troubled if you are prohibited from using Facebook.
  • You use Facebook so much that it has had a negative impact on your job/studies.

Answering "often" or "very often" on four or more may suggest Facebook addiction.

While only a professional counselor should diagnose an addiction, this test can be helpful for parents to guide teens in Facebook usage or see if their teen might have a problem.

Parents should evaluate their own Facebook use. Is your teen turning to Facebook to get attention and support because you are on Facebook too much?

Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas, South Texas, & Florida Trips!
Eric currently has three upcoming speaking trips. If a school or church books a program that fits on one of these trips, they get an extra 20% discount on top of any other discounts they may already receive. Plus the travel expenses can be cut as much as 50% since they are shared.

This means a school can book a program for as little as $800 total cost. Churches can be as little as $550. Of course actual costs are dependent on location, dates, and the programs booked.
