Thank you for being a part of the transformational mission of Chaffee County Habitat for Humanity. This community effort has been bringing people together to build homes, communities and hope since 2000.

This past December, two more families moved into homes they helped build alongside community volunteers. We are busy planning for the 2015 build season. Johnson Village and Nathrop will be the build sites for our 16th and 17th homes. You will find more information on volunteering and the 2015 builds in upcoming newsletters.

Happy New Year,

Jill Smola

Executive Director

What will you build in 2015?

It's as simple as A, B, C.

As we begin a new year, let's take a moment to reflect on the successes of 2014. With our supporter's generous contributions of time, talent and resources CCHFH was able to provide homes for two more families in Chaffee County. Since the first house was built in 2002, you have helped CCHFH serve 19 families, including 33 children through Habitat new home and repair programs.

However, the need for affordable housing still exists. Together we can build hope for families throughout Chaffee County in 2015.

Advocate - tell others

Be a voice for Chaffee County Habitat and families in need of decent, affordable housing.

Build it - volunteer

Become a member of a committee! Including areas in finance, family services, faith relations, fund raising and PR.

Volunteer opportunities can also be found on construction sites, in the office and ReStore.

Contribute - donate

  • Monetary giving - planned and legacy giving programs
  • Land donations
  • In-kind donations of goods and services
  • Donate to and shop at the ReStore

For more information on how you can make a significant difference in the lives of Chaffee County families, please contact the Chaffee County Habitat for Humanity office at 719-395-0482.

The Chaffee County 2015 Build Plan

Help earn money when you spend at the Buena Vista City Market

Once again two new home builds are being planned for this year.

One will be the fourth and final home on the donated land in Johnson Village. In 2010 and 2011 units 12872 A/B/C on County Road 314B were constructed. This year we will complete Unit D which will be our 16th home overall. Plans have been submitted to the County Building Department for permit approval. We will start as soon as the building permit is received which is a departure from historical norms.

The second home (17th home overall) will be on land Habitat owns in Nathrop. It will be a single family structure because that is all that is permitted on this lot. The water well has been drilled and leach field design is underway. Construction of this home is also a departure from our normal procedure. More details on this Blitz Build project will be provided in future newsletters.

As always we will need your support from food preparation to site coordination to pounding nails. Please call the office at 395-0482 if you would like to help in any way.

A special thank you from the board of directors and staff

On behalf of the board of directors and staff, I'd like to thank you for your continued support of Habitat for Humanity and its mission. Striving to provide simple, affordable homes for families in Chaffee County is a collaborative effort between Habitat, our donors, community volunteers, local businesses, government, and civic organizations. Through your donations, you not only make a clear and powerful statement that everyone deserves an affordable and safe place to live, but you also make it a reality in a very big way. This past December, you helped two more families celebrate the holidays in their new homes! Together we can and do make a difference in the lives so many Chaffee County families. We are looking forward to what 2015 will bring and what we can accomplish together as a community.

Blessings,

Jill Smola

Executive Director
