NaNoWriMo

Did you know that sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students spend the month of November writing novels? That's right! Each year Our Lady of Peace Middle School students participate in National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo for short). Each day during Language Arts, students spend the first 10 minutes of class writing. Word counts are tallied daily and each class tries to be the first to meet their goal of 100,000 words. In addition, students also vie for the title of "Word Wizard" - the person who writes the most words in one day!

This year, students will have another exciting opportunity tied to NaNoWriMo. On Oct. 23rd, the 6th-8th graders will have the chance to meet a local author who wrote her recently published book during NaNoWriMo. Stephanie Watson, author of Elvis & Olive and Elvis & Olive: Super Detectives, will visit OLP and lead the students in a writing workshop. We are thrilled to be able to offer this amazing learning experience to our Middle School students!

 Middle School High School Day

TWO days for Shadowing

Spending a day shadowing a student is a valuable experience when trying to determine the right high school. Therefore, we have reserved Monday, October 29th and Nov. 8th as "8th Grade Shadow Day." Students interested in shadowing a high school student are encouraged to do so on this day.

Please note: Parents need to contact the high school directly to set up the shadow experience. Students NOT shadowing on Monday, October 29th and Nov. 8th should come to school.

Whate'er I do, things great or small
Whate'er I do, things great or small
Whate'er I speak or frame.
Thy glory may I seek in all,
Do all in Jesus' name.

My Father, for His sake I pray.
Thy child accept and bless
And lead me by Thy grace to-day
In paths of righteousness. Amen.
