Congratulations to this years graduates, scholarship winners, those named to the Dean's List, and all who received honors over the year. Scholarship winners will be announced at the annual awards ceremony on Thursday, May 5th, in the SDSU Foundation Building, upstairs in room T3. Poster presentations begin at 1:30 with the ceremony starting at 2:00. All welcome.

As part of the symposium, students and faculty were invited to do poster presentations. Those present voted on their favorite, the winning poster was presented by Shuruq Alsharif. Honorable Mention goes to a poster done by Wei Gu and Dr. Weiwei Zhang.

Congratulations to Bishal Kasu
who was presented with the Graduate Teaching Certificate of Highest Excellence offered by the Center for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning. The award was given out at a ceremony on Friday, April 29th.

1. Beginning Fall 2016, the Sociology department will offer the following two minors:
Social and Human Services Minor and the
Youth & Community Work Minor
2. The fall semester begins Monday, August 22.
Summer 2016 10-week session runs Tuesday, May 31 through Friday, August 5th.
May Interim: Mon. May 9-Friday, May 2
August Interim: Mon. Aug. 8 - Friday, Aug. 19.
3. The Sociology Department at SDSU offers completely online degree options.
Sociology requires 33 credits in Sociology. This includes Sociology for Majors, Research Design, Statistics, Theory and Capstone. Students returning in Sociology at SDSU must also double major or take a minor. We have some terrific minors online including: Criminal Justice, Sociology, Human and Social Services, and Youth and Community Work. Some credit for prior learning experience is also available.
