January 2015
Well here we are- second half of the Rotary year and beginning of the calendar year. We hope everyone had a safe and happy festive season and that you're fully"recharged" for the months ahead! From the District's perspective, there area couple of key priorities we'd ask you to focus on in the next couple of weeks:
- DistrictConference in Ballarat in March- If you haven't already done so, you need to register as soon as possible. We need an early and accurate view of registration numbers in order to ensure wecan deliver the exciting and professional event that you expect and deserve!
- Future Leaders Seminar- You will recall from my club visits that I spoke of a Future Leaders Seminar to be held on the day prior to the District Conference. I'm very excited to announce that Past Rotary International President Bill Boyd, who is attending our Conference, has agreed to also attend and help facilitate the Seminar. This is a terrific opportunity to hear first hand, in an intimate gathering, some perspectives from a very experienced and senior Rotarian. Your Club President is currently being invited to putforward nominations- don't miss this great opportunity.
- Preparing for next year- Yes, it's never too early! At the time of writing, Governor Elect David Tolstrup is at"Governor School" in San Diego, preparing for the year ahead. I know that David has put a lot of work intopreparing President Elect Training at the end of February and the District Training Assembly in May. I encourage you to make sure that your incoming President andBoard are alsopreparing accordingly and are available for these events.
Best wishes for 2015
Tony Monley
District Governor 2014-2015

Distict Stamp Fund
Your District Stamp Fund needs used stamps - we have had to ring around for supplies lately!! Any stamps will do, high value and foreign varieties bring in the most dollars.
This is a diminishing resource so let us use it while we can, it will not cost you a cent but will hopefully improve the lives of the less fortunate amongst us.

2014-2015 Presidential Citation Update
Please read this important information about changes to the 2014-15 Presidential Citation.
RI President Gary C.K. Huang has made a few changes to the "Light Up the Family of Rotary" section of the citation to make these goals more attainable for clubs. The specific changes are as follows:
- For the "Best Class" Club President's Challenge, points will be earned if either the club president or club president-elect registers to attend the São Paulo convention.
- Points can be earned if the club sponsors a new Rotaract club or Interact club or if it continues to sponsor one of these groups.
- Points can also be earned if the club sponsors a new Rotary Community Corps or if it continues to sponsor an RCC.
- Clubs only need to score a minimum of 30 points in this section of the citation, instead of 40 as originally written.
The updated 2014-15 Presidential Citation form is available on the RI website, here.
As a reminder, club presidents should submit their clubs' completed forms to their district governors no later than 31 March 2015. Please do not send your forms to RI, as they will not be processed. District governors will have the ability to report the names of their districts' qualifying clubs online through My Rotary between 1 March and 15 April 2015.
Please submit your applications for a Presidental Citation to Tony Monley on later than the 31st March 2015. |
Vital information for Rotary Clubs
We are aware that there have been, and will continue to be, many changes for clubs to adapt to. One of the largest is the change in the Club Invoicing that comes into effect with the January 2015 invoice.
To assist your clubs through the requirements, our office has prepared a presentation on the New Club Invoice and the changes that will be occurring, together with the inclusion of Rotary Down Under magazine subscription costs on the RI invoice.
The presentation is in the form of Powerpoint with an audio commentary, and can be viewed on YouTube at:-

It would be appreciated if you could forward this information and the link to your clubs, so that they are able to receive the most up to date information that is available. If they have any questions regarding this process they should contact our office on +61 2 8894 9800 or email to risppo@rotary.org

Happy New Year to all and I hope that you have a great 2015.
There is a lot of information in this month's edition of "Highlights", which shows that the year is off to a flying start.
Over the last few weeks I have been getting feedback that some Rotarians are not receiving "Highlights" on a monthly basis. If you get a chance, please ask your fellow Rotarians if they are receiving a copy of "Highlights" and if they are not, get them to send me an e-mail and I will check their details.
Please keep up the good feedback and pass on all thoses events so your fellow Rotarians can enjoy them as well.
