July 2014
Welcome to this first edition of Highlights, our District's monthly notification of events. My thanks to Michael Ellinger for stepping up to take on the role of editor this year. This publication is a key element of our District's communication policy. This is the means by which clubs and district committees should be promoting their events. Please ensure that you allow plenty of lead time and send details of your event to the editor for publication, as it is our intent to reduce the number of direct emails being sent to clubs and place more reliance on this publication.
At a District level, we have a number of exciting events planned for the year as we Light up Rotary. I encourage members to attend our District Seminars where we will be showcasing outstanding projects and programs for the purpose of sharing learnings. Our quarterly presidents meetings are being expanded to include district committee members, again to share success stories. And of course, our District Conference in March where we will dive deep into the Foundation's six areas of focus to explore not only our current successes, but future opportunities where we can make a difference.
We have an exciting year ahead. Please join me in lighting up Rotary in 2014-15.

District 9810 Guess Who's Comming to Dinner
The idea of the event, which will be held on Purple for Polio Day and is a fundraiser for Polio, is that we invite members of Rotary Clubs across the District to offer to either host or attend a Guess Who's Coming To Dinner on that evening.
For those that attend a dinner, they will pay $40 per person for the night and those that host will receive $20 per person of that money towards the cost of the meal. The remaining $20 will go to Polio Eradication Project.
This is always a fabulous fun night and when the door opens, that is when you either know who your guests are - or who you are joining for dinner.

Please email Jenny Coburn to advise if you would like to:
1 Host,or 2 attend a dinner (or either) along with your contact mobile & suburb.

Welcome to the first edition of "Highlights" of D9810 for the Rotary year 2014-2015 and believe me this month is a real bumper issue with plenty of reminders and events happening around the District.
Anyone who might have had a chance to read one of our clubs bulletins will know that I am good at writing epics with a lot of information.
I know that I have some pretty big shoes to fill after the great work which was performed by Lesley over the last few years and I hope that I can keep up the great standard.
Any feedback or comments throughout the year will be greatly appreciated.
