Nancy Whipkey and Lisa St. Ores singing with the children at Children's Chapel
Chapel has had a busy month in October. We have had one larger group class during the week that the Youth Choir sang and MEA. The younger chapel group has been practicing The Lord's Prayer and the older group has been learning more about the healing stories in the Gospel's.
There are many people to thank for volunteering in chapel this month with food and/or teaching. They are Lisa Cressman, Ann Martens, Darcy Rodriquez, Lisa St. Ores, Ann Kraker, Ann Denton and Carole Finneran.
We have a new Children & Youth Educational bulletin available for all families with children ages 4 thru 18. They are available on Sunday mornings with the bulletins or see Mindy to have one sent.
Our children and youth programs could really use your help. More than anything, we're asking for any time you can spare to help support and expand this vital ministry. We need your ideas, your goals, your energy and most of all, the example of your love and commitment to the children and youth of our family.
We are looking for 2-3 people to help Sunday, Nov. 18th in both chapel classes. Mindy will be at TEC with the teenagers and not available to help. Please let me know if you can help.
For more information please contact Mindy at:

Ascension Group that was at the 2011 Spring TECWhat is T.E.C.? T.E.C. stands for Teens Encounter Christ. It is a program set up in St. Paul for teens in 9th through 12th grade. One of the coolest aspects of TEC is that it is a program for teens run by teens. The teen leaders head up everything from the organization of the program, to the food that is eaten over the weekend to the spiritual aspects and even the mingling and fun time provided during the weekend. Those attending TEC for the 1st time are called candidates and those returning to TEC are called team members. TEC offers a chance to get to know God, yourself and an amazing new group of friends. Don't miss the opportunity to learn, grow and have fun. It is offered 2 times a year, once in November and once in April. The dates for TEC 2012-2013 are: November 16-18 and April 12-14 Come join us at TEC for an amazing weekend for spiritual growth, food, fun and friends. See Mindy for registration forms. Here is a list of the teens that will be attending the Nov. TEC: Jake Doneux, Conference room leader Nate Lottsfeldt, Earth team leader Corinne Urban, Wheat team leader Sammy Fusco, Music team leader Story Schwantes, Katie Gabrick, Shyam Dorn, Lee Miller, Lea Edwards Candidates: Jack Allaire, Hope Miller, Amelia Gerrard, Maddy Nelson

On All Saints Sunday, parishioners had the opportunity to learn about a variety of aspects involving end-of-life issues.
Jim and Jason Bradshaw from the Bradshaw Celebration of Life Center gave a presentation on green-cremation.
The Bradshaw Center is the second funeral home in the entire country to offer this new service, first pioneered at the Mayo Clinic. Learn about this process.

2nd: In conjunction with our volunteer opportunity at Valley Outreach, we will be holding a food drive at Ascension. This allows all parishioners a chance to contribute their support to Valley Outreach. Please bring your food donations to church during the month of November and we'll deliver them on Monday November 26th.

Samuel Seabury Bishop 14 NOV 1784 Bestowal of the American Episcopate
A crucial date for members of the Episcopal Church in the United States of America is the consecration of the first Bishop of the Anglican Communion in the United States. During the colonial era, there had been no Anglican bishops in the New World; and persons seeking to be ordained as clergy had had to travel to England for the purpose. After the achievement of American independence, it was important for the Church in the United States to have its own bishops, and an assembly of Connecticut clergy chose Samuel Seabury to go to England and there seek to be consecrated as a bishop. Learn how Samuel Seabury became a bishop even though he wouldn't take an oath towards the British Crown.
