Stay Informed and Get Involved
|
|
Dear SPS Parents,
We are very excited to welcome you and your children back for another wonderful year of learning and fun together. We know how much you value staying connected and informed, and have spent the summer implementing a new system that will make this process even easier! Canvas has replaced Edline as our student/parent portal for learning and information, and is accessible via the link on the homepage of the school website.
Back to School Nights are hosted for both elementary and middle school parents. This year, during classroom breakout sessions, teachers will provide parents with hands on training on how to navigate Canvas, so mark your calendars and don't miss out.
Tuesday, September 15 from 6:30-8:00pm - Elementary Thursday, September 17 from 6:30-8:00pm - Middle
Our school website now has a live calendar feed and each issue of the Peaks' Post will be archived. You can find both of these informative pieces of information on the home page at www.sevenpeaksschool.org. To help keep you pointed in the right direction, we have included an easy to read STAY INFORMED map that shows where to go for information, whether it is on the school website or Canvas. Please note we will continue to update and add information and forms over the next several days.
See you in two more weeks!

This is a year round position with the Oregon Forest Resources Institute where she will teach students about the forest and lead professional development for teachers. Rikki will be stationed at the Oregon Gardens in Beaverton, OR.
Sue Mudge, our 4th-8th grade band teacher, accepted a full time position with the Carmel Bach Festival as Director of Community Engagement. This is a managerial post in Arts Administration that will utilize both her performance and education experience, working with community outreach to schools, underserved communities, and establishing new relationships with area wide individuals and groups.
Employment positions are posted on our website and via Talent Ed Recruit & Hire, a nationwide resource for hiring teachers and we are happy to announce the new hires that we have made.
Please join me in welcoming the following new and returning faces to Seven Peaks School!
Andrea Thomas, a new Instructional Aide, has also been hired to teach JK through 2nd grade PE. Andrea has been a Seven Peaks parent for two years and says she is very excited to join our incredible staff. Andrea grew up in Canada and competed on the Canadian Olympic Gymnastics Team and two World Championship Teams. She then attended the University of Georgia on a gymnastics scholarship where she won two NCAA Team championships and was All-American for three years. While at the University of Georgia, Andrea fell in love with teaching while she volunteered as a Big Sister and tutored underprivileged children.
Andrea completed her undergraduate degree in Middle School Education and immediately combined her passion for teaching and traveling by working for a Private International School in Guam. Andrea continued to teach at private schools in both Canada and the United States before obtaining her EdM in Elementary Education and ESOL minor at Oregon State University and Special Education Endorsement at Lewis & Clark.
Andrea feels incredibly fortunate to be living in Bend. She shares her love for mountain biking, hiking, climbing, skiing and camping with her husband and daughter. She is looking forward to sharing her excitement for life and learning with the children and families at Seven Peaks School.
Warren Zaiger, our new 4th-8th grade band teacher, learned how to read music before he learned to read English. Growing up in Southern Oregon, he returned to his birth state of California to complete his Master's Degree at USC and play professionally in the greater Los Angeles area. He is joining Seven Peaks after many years teaching music of all varieties in the public school system in elementary through high school grades. He is also the Big Band Jazz Director at COCC. Warren keeps busy with performing jazz and other styles nationwide. Warren looks forward to serving our students and families as we continue providing excellent music education for our students.
Lynn Cauble, returning to SPS as our Kindergarten teacher, is the product of an Army physician and grew up mostly outside of the United States. Lynn returned to the United States for her senior year of high school and pursued her undergraduate degree at the University of Maryland to be near family. She later pursued her dream of teaching by securing her Master's of Teaching degree from Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon. Early career endeavors for Lynn began as a teacher at the Catlin Gable School in Portland. After helping to open Scholls Heights Elementary in Beaverton, Lynn married and worked in Santa Monica, California while her husband completed his post-doctorate work at UCLA. Most of Lynn's teaching has been in the primary grades. Lynn is thrilled to have the opportunity to serve our children and families once again; especially inspiring our youngest learners here at Seven Peaks.
