Thank you for Teacher Appreciation Week Gestures

On behalf of all the faculty and support staff at PVS, a sincere thank you goes out to all our families who brought in food, cards, and gifts last week, in recognition of Teacher Appreciation Week. There were delicious food items provided every day of the week, and the staff rooms were more crowded than usual with happily grazing staff members. Thanks for everything last week.

OAKS Testing Final Week

This week is the final week of OAKS (state) testing for PVS students.   Most of our students will have completed all of their tests by the end of the day on Monday, and Tuesday through Friday will offer opportunities for students who were absent, or are taking a second round to complete them. Students in Grades 3-8 take tests in Reading and Math, and students in Grades 5 & 8 also take a Science Test.

The Bike and Walk to School Challenge is Underway!

Thank you to all of you who noticed the weekly tally sheets outside your classrooms last week.
Look for new tally sheets on Monday and mark off your commute style.

Each week that we participate our names are entered in drawings for individual and school prizes.

Stay tuned for info about bike trains so you can zoom to school with friends.

Consider parking  near Denver and Farragut or near Kenton Park and joining a walking train.

Kenton Street Fair Portland Village School Booth  May 19th

PVS will host a booth at the annual Kenton Street Fair on May 19th from 10 am-6pm, as an effort to reach out to the local Kenton community, and increase the school's name familiarity.

Stop by and say hello if you attend the fair!

5th Grade Olympiad Event at Portland Waldorf School (PWS)

On Saturday I enjoyed watching the afternoon events at the Annual 5th Grade Olympiad Event sponsored by PWS, for students from Waldorf schools in the greater Portland area.

Thanks to Ms. DeSantis, Mr. Albrecht, and Ms. Kennedy for preparing our students for their participation in the two day event.  Next year's 5th Grade Teachers, Miss Farrell and Mr Fitch also attended, and participated in preparation for next year.

Special thanks to all PVS parents and guardians who supported our students in this special event. The spirit and camaraderie among all the students was a pleasure to witness.

 ~ Mr. Berg, Principal
