Preserve Ogunquit's Marginal Way
Because you gave $32,000...
Donors Respond to Urgent Marginal Way Appeal

Several months ago we announced an emergency appeal for funds to assist in the effort to repair the Devil's Kitchen site along the Marginal Way. Through the overwhelming response from more than 260 private, individual donors we have raised $32,000 toward our goal of $50,000, our share of the total estimated cost of $150,000. However, we still are short of our target.

For those who have not yet contributed, you may donate here.(link)

To those who have already generously contributed,we are most grateful for your response and commitment.

Devil's Kitchen Chasm Walls Need Immediate Repair

As a result of very serious storm damage to a section of the Marginal Way, your help is greatly needed to repair it. For years, the area known as "Devil's Kitchen," the hairpin turn between Lobster Point and the high knoll, has been worn down by storm water runoff and ocean waves. Several supporting boulders have dropped to the ocean floor and wave action has eroded the banks of the chasm wall, threatening the head wall with collapse.

This critical section of the Marginal Way, near the Josiah Chase plaque, must be repaired to ensure its long-term viability and pedestrian safety. Architects will design a new rock foundation to support the chasm walls and boulder underpinnings. Repair costs could exceed $150,000.

Work must begin within the next few months.

Please help the Marginal Way Preservation Fund continue our mission to provide urgent and long-term funding assistance to the Town of Ogunquit in order to preserve the Marginal Way for future generations.

Would you consider a tax-deductible donation today? Any dollar amount is appreciated.

Own Your Own Piece of the

Marginal Way friends now have reserved half of the available 25 lines on the second bronze Recognition Plaque. Ten total plaques are available for a combined 250 family inscriptions.

You may reserve a line with a tax-deductible donation of $2,500 [or $10,000 to contribute the full amount]. Balances are due once the plaque is full.

If you send a deposit by June 15, we will send you a small "piece of the rock" -- a sample of the granite cut from the six-ton stone, now in place near Bench #32 on the Marginal Way. This is the LAST Recognition Plaque area on the Marginal Way permitted by the Ogunquit Select Board.

Thank you for helping us achieve our annual revenue goals for Ogunquit's Marginal Way.
MWPF Surveys Local Business Owners for Helpful Feedback

We want to hear from you!

The Marginal Way Preservation Fund plans to interview selected business owners in June to learn how we can better help preserve the Marginal Way and support local businesses.

While this not a fundraising effort, we hope to learn things from your perspective that will help us do that job better as well.

Thanks for helping!
