Nonprofit Helps Repair Damaged Footpath

As you can see in the story below about damage to the Devil's Kitchen chasm on the Marginal Way, we need help now, more than ever. The Marginal Way Preservation Fund is committed to assisting the Town of Ogunquit with repairs, but we cannot do it without you. .

Devil's Kitchen Chasm Walls Need Immediate Repair
As a result of very serious storm damage to a section of the Marginal Way, your help is greatly needed to repair it. For years, the area known as "Devil's Kitchen," the hairpin turn between Lobster Point and the high knoll, has been worn down by storm water runoff and ocean waves. Several supporting boulders have dropped to the ocean floor and wave action has eroded the banks of the chasm wall, threatening the head wall with collapse.
This critical section of the Marginal Way, near the Josiah Chase plaque, must be repaired to ensure its long-term viability and pedestrian safety. Architects will design a new rock foundation to support the chasm walls and boulder underpinnings. Repair costs could exceed $150,000.
Work must begin within the next three months to prevent further damage and possible closure of the path.
Please help the Marginal Way Preservation Fund continue our mission to provide urgent and long-term funding assistance to the Town of Ogunquit in order to preserve the Marginal Way for future generations.

You may reserve a line with a tax-deductible donation of $2,500 [or $10,000 to contribute the full amount]. Balances are due once the plaque is full.
If you send a deposit by March 15, we will send you a small "piece of the rock" -- a sample of the granite cut from the six-ton stone, now in place near Bench #32 on the Marginal Way.
Thank you for helping us achieve our annual revenue goals for Ogunquit's Marginal Way.

Photo Contest Winners Announced
Thank you to everyone who submitted photos to our contest. The contest judge chose these two photos as the best. A special thank you to Steve Dunn who gave his time and expertise to judge all the photos.
1st Place: The winter scene by Mary Beth Wilson :
Ms. Wilson did an excellent job creating a very interesting image in very difficult weather conditions. By including the red bushes covered with snow in the foreground of the image she added color and added interest to the photograph. The image is composed very well with the point of land and the building in the background. It conveys a good sense of place and captures the true sense of a winter storm.
2nd Place: The summer scene by Mike Perez:
Mr. Perez created a wonderful image by incorporating several elements to create a very interesting and well composed image. The foreground Rosa Rugosa bushes with the pink rose draws you into the image and then by using the leading line of the rocks he leads your eye out to the sailboat out on the distant horizon. The various elements of the image are all in focus, the exposure is right where it should be, the horizon line is straight and all the compositional elements are there. Nicely done.
