What New Plaque Holders Say about the Marginal Way
Greetings!

Artist Rendition

Two visitors shown at right read the new Geology Sign on the Marginal Way. An artist's rendition shows what it would look like if two people were standing near the plaque area. Plans call for 250 donor names displayed on top of natural stones. [Lindsey Architects]

We thank all of the donors who stepped up to be the first to contribute for a legacy plaque space in the new recognition area of the Marginal Way.  Only eight spaces remain on Plaque One, so don't wait.

Here are a few of their reasons for donating $10,000 to the Marginal Way Preservation Fund for a legacy inscription:

Ben Hershenson

"I have walked the Marginal Way thousands of times and this is but a small way to ensure it remains as pristine and beautiful for future generations as it has been for me all these years."

~Ben Hershenson

Phinney

"The Shea & Phinney families cherish the natural beauty, peace and tranquility provided by this beautiful stretch of land."

~John Phinney

"For three generations, we have walked the Marginal Way and appreciated its beauty.  It is part of our family traditions."

~Erna & Bob Place

Schmiedeskamp "I proposed to my wife, M.J., on Ogunquit beach in 1963 and our children and grandchildren have returned to the town for many a year. Ogunquit and the Marginal Way are a part of our family and we are happy and proud to support this exceptional project."

~Walt Schmiedeskamp

An article about the Griswold's garden in Ogunquit featured in the Boston Globe Magazine

"Birds, butterflies, and bees are among the primary joys that Joan Griswold and her husband, Peter, derive from their garden. Located on the Marginal Way, a one and a quarter mile paved path along the rocky coast of Ogunquit, Maine, the Griswolds' garden is the carefully planned result of a gardner's long-lived relationship with her surroundings..."
