Is Spring just around the corner?

 

It has been a wild winter for most of the country including San Antonio with record setting low temperatures and ice/snow in cities that don't usually have any.  So are we in for 6 more weeks of winter weather or is spring just around the corner?

 

 
 

The groundhog, Phil, saw his shadow and predicted we are in for 6 more week of winter.  In the past, the groundhog has predicted a late winter 100 times and has only predicts an early spring 17 times.   

 

While the groundhog may have predicted 6 more weeks of winter, here at Preferred we are already busy booking our spring projects.  If you have a new project in mind for this spring, give us a call 210-657-7737.

 

TIme to make the Switch 

 

  Have you made the switch to LED lamps yet for your outdoor lighting?  If you haven't yet, now is the time! There have never been so many options to retrofit a lighting system to LED lamps.  Why should you switch?  

 

In a typical home situation, LED lamps should last more than 40,000 hours which means you don't have to change lamps more often than every 10 years.  But the real cost savings comes in the efficiency of LED lamps - they are super efficient using just one-fourth the power of regular bulbs.  LED lamps pay for themselves in the long run through both reduced power usage and extraordinary lamp life.

The Secret to a Weed Free lawn  
  

The best defense against weeds in your lawn is to have a healthy lawn.  If you have a healthy, thick lawn, the weeds will have a tougher time taking root in your lawn.  So how do you make sure your lawn is healthy?

 

One of the most important ways you can maintain a healthy, weed-free lawn is to start the year off right by applying a pre-emergent weed control product.  These products work best when applied prior to weeds actually germinating.  For the San Antonio area, late January to early March is typically the best time to apply a pre-emergent weed control to your grass.
